Branding for The Prospect Podcast and Prospect Lives

Launched in 2016, The Prospect Podcast has become a key part of Prospect’s content offering to subscribers and non-subscribers alike. Initially started as a monthly podcast, episodes are now released weekly and are available to listen to via Apple Podcasts and Spotify.

To coincide with the 2021 redesign of the print magazine and supplements, the branding for the podcast was also updated to ensure consistency across all platforms.

A new colour scheme was introduced, brightening the album artwork and on-site visuals to make the podcasts stand out from competitors. Subtle quote marks were introduced to the background of the podcast artwork to emphasise that the content was a conversation or interview.

Alongside the podcast cover imagery, static and animated social media graphics were produced to attract new listeners.

With the introduction of a new family of writers including Sheila Hancock and Mike Brearley to the Lives section of the magazine at the same time as the print redesign, the Prospect Lives podcast was launched. Released monthly, episodes feature each writer reading their column with Prospect’s editor Alan Rusbridger linking each together.

Branding for the podcast links directly to the colour scheme used for the Lives section in the magazine and clearly displays the names of the writers on the cover artwork.
